Homemade Maple Syrup
We’ve proudly made our own maple syrup on site since 1952!
30 gallons of sap makes 1 gallon of maple syrup. We typically boil a batch of sap for 8-9 hours, at which point it becomes syrup. Then, we filter and bottle the “liquid gold”. The sap house can be seen steaming throughout late February and March.
Maple sap collection involves drilling a hole into a maple tree, inserting a spout called a “spile,” and then collecting the sap that drips out either into a bucket hanging from the spile or through a tubing system that channels the sap to a collection tank, this process is most effective during early spring when freeze-thaw cycles create pressure within the tree, causing the sap to naturally move upwards and out of the tap hole.
Each year, we tap, collect, boil, and bottle 100% pure maple syrup with lots of love!
Maple syrup is for sale in the lobby all year round!
